Match Report | Barbary Brace give Duchy Vital Away WinA late Stuart Barbery penalty corner was enough to earn Duchy their first away win since January in a newvy encounter with Shepton Mallet. After Saturday's transport woes which lead to a 9-2 hammering at the hands of North Somerset, The Cornishmen were back to full strength for the short hop to Shepton for part two of their double-header; and in desperate need of a win to move clear of the relegation places. The visitors took a deserved lead in the first half when Barbery smashed home a pass from Alfie Budge, however the home side pressed hard after the interval and eventually drew deservedly level from a penalty corner with a quater of the macth remaining. Kevin Welsh excelled in goal for Duchy, keeping his side level at 1-1 and earning a deserved man-of-the-match award ; and with two minutes remaining Duchy won a penalty corner which Barbery slammed home via a deflection for 2-1. Duchy were able to see out time and hang on to the win, and climb to eigth in the table having taken three points from a difficult weekend of matches. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Shepton Mallet | 52pc Duchy | Stuart Barbery 25f, 67pc |
