Match Report | A tough one to take this one: On a very, very, wet and windy, late PB against Ashmoor B, Duchy 3s came out of the blocks the quicker of the teams, and put Ashmoor under the cosh for the first 10-15 minutes of the game, playing good free flowing hockey and coming close to taking the lead , alas a breakaway goal from a speedy counter attack caught us off guard, and gave Ashmoor the the chance to settle into their stride. A second goal created from direct passing and moving knocked the confidence of the lads a bit, and despite a "backs to the wall" strong team effort, the second half proved tough, once again Ashmoors speedy passes cutting through us and giving the final scoreline an unflattering 5.0. However! Many positives can be taken from the game, a strong goalkeeping performance under speedy attack, good passing around the back line to switch play, great movement across the midfield and many chances created with the attack on the oppo goal. Our finess levels are clearly increasing, and everyone's skill sets are noticeably better than the start of the season. I took heart from seeing Duchy doubling up on individuals trying to pressurised them off the ball in the closing stages of the game, and enjoyed starting from the bench and observing how organised and threatening from Push Back. We move onwards chaps, and upwards is the direction! Mom was tied between Ben Parker and Warren Pearce, both worthy of it, but as captain I've swung it only just to Woz for some brilliant saves. |
