Low-key Win for Duchy in Pre-Season

Duchy got their pre-season campaign underway with a 5-0 away win against a youthful Penzance A side.

The Duchy side, which contained a mix of 2nd and 3rd XI players, started positively with captain Stu Richardson putting his side into the lead after fifteen minutes, tapping home from point blank range after good interplay from Lee Selby and James Vincent. Lee Selby then doubled the lead with a neat finish mid-way through the half before turning provider for Martin Crump who struck home a third. 

As half time approached Penzance grew into the game and began to press; capitalising on a lack of communication and shape from Duchy; and the trend continued after the interval.  Penzance were unfortunate not to pull at least one goal back, with Kevin Welsh twice saving well before man-of-the-match, Ben Pascoe made a goal saving tackle when the home side looked odds on to score. 

As the match drew to a close, Duchy added a scarcely deserved gloss to the scoreline, with Max Chippett converting a fine cross from Wayne Spargo for 4-0, before Simon Rafferty's through-ball from the top of the circle was inexplicably missed by attackers and defenders alike and rolled into the net for 5-0.
