Early Penzance Goal Sets-Up Friendly Win

Goals at the start of each of the first, second and third quarters gave Penzance an ultimately comfortable pre-season win over Duchy

The home side took the lead inside ten minutes when sloppy defending from the black-and-whites allowed Penzance to strike from close range for 1-0, and mid-way through the second quarter Duchy, whilst looking to equalise, got caught on the counter as Penzance broke the length of the pitch to double their lead.

A quickfire start to the second half from saw Penzance take advantage of more poor Duchy marking with a neat, far-post deflection, leaving the visitors staring down the barrel of defeat, however when Amy Looke collected the ball at the top of the circle and smashed home the fightback looked to be on. 

The final twenty minutes were Duchy's best, however there was no further impact on the scoreline and the match finished 3-1 to Penzance; who were good value for their win. Duchy continue their pre-season campaign on Sunday at the Caradon 7s Tournament. Player of the match was awarded to Morwenna Trevena.
