Match Report | Caradon Win despite Defensive Duchy DisplayGoals from Clare Poad and Laura Hill gave Caradon a 2-0 pre-season win over Duchy. Duchy went into their second pre-season friendly against higher-league opposition knowing that a good performance would be vital in securing a result, however despite a sterling defensive effort were unable to threaten in the final third, and ultimately slipped to a 2-0 defeat. Caradon dominated possession for much of the match, however the Duchy back five defended stoically and, aided by three decent stops from Charlotte Ramsay in goal, kept the match level until the twenty minute mark when Clare Poad deflected home a cross from Bizzie Dinnis for 1-0. The patern of the match continued into the second half and Duchy only mustered one attempt on target in the match, with Helen Delbridge saving from Kerry Wills; and with a quater of the match remaining a goal from Laura Hill put the result beyond doubt. Player of the match was awarded to Gemma Pellow, for tireless work at right wing-back; and Duchy took heart from a brave performance against stong opposition. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Duchy | - Caradon | Clare Poad 18F, Laura Hill 49F |
