Duchy in Control at Truro
A composed performance saw Duchy A brush past Truro B, 4-0, to retain top spot in South West Division 1.
Duchy started slowly, however a raft of substitutions on the seven-minute mark paid instant dividends with Max Chippett coming off the bench to link up with Jeremy Wall and slot home on the reverse for 1-0. Truro were rarely able to retain possession, however Duchy failed to find the net again for the best part of twenty minutes; until a quickly taken free hit and run from Martyn Head set up Justin Churchill to fire home and double the lead.
With the score at 2-0, Truro went into damage-limitation mode, and were camped in their own half for much of the remainder of the match; with Duchy retaining possession for long periods. The second half continued as the first had ended, with Duchy moving the ball quickly but patiently, waiting for oppenings to present themselves. Ten minutes into the half, a quick move down the right flank saw Tom Elliott find Martin Crump on the baseline, whose cross was met by Churchill who fired a blistering shot into the roof of the net for 3-0.
The possession game continued for the visitors, who earned a string of penalty corners as the match approached the hour mark, with Chris Pound taking the lead to 4-0 at the end of a well-choreographed set piece, lashing home a slip-pass from Crump. Duchy then saw the match out in professional fashion to record a third league win of the campaign, and remain top of the division on goal-difference.
Man of the Match was awarded to Justin Chuchill
