Duchy Hammer Promotion Rivals
Duchy took advantage of an unusually weak PGSOB 3s side to record an 8-0 win against their nearest promotion contenders and move six points clear at the top of South West 1.
An excellent start from Duchy had seen the home side romp into a 2-0 lead, with Justin Churchill scoring twice before the twenty-minute mark to put the Cornish side firmly in control. The key point in the match came just moments later, when an unforunately head injury to a PGSOB defender saw the visitors - who had travelled with the bare eleven players - reduced to ten-men for the remainder of the match.
Duchy were clinical in making the man advantage count. Rick Searle extented the lead to 3-0 shortly before the break with an unstoppable penalty corner; and early in the second period Max Chippett took the lead to 4-0 with a fierce close range shot from a Martyn Head cross.
PGSOB battled hard to minimise the damage, however the hosts continued to make their numerical advantage count. Sealre claimed his second of the day after linking well with Chippett before finishing accurately, with Lee Selby adding a sixth from point blank range; also from a Chippett pass.
The final fifteen minutes saw Duchy lose discipline and shape; however were still able to extended the score to 8-0 by the final whistle with Neil Bradford neatly glancing home a pass from Martin Crump, and Chippett scoring an audacios solo effort after a darting run from thirty yards out.
Man of the Match was awarded to Rick Searle
