Invincible Duchy in Final Day Win

Despite an unconvincing performance, Duchy ran out as 6-0 winners away to Plymouth Univerisity B to complete an undefeated league season.

The champions toiled in the first half, unable to breakdown the stuborn home defence until a Martin Crump penalty corner found the foot of a Plymouth Uni. defender on the goal-line, with Rick Searle stepping up to convert the resulting penalty stroke for 1-0.  Five minutes before the interval Duchy doubled their lead when a cross from James Vincent was met perfectly by Sam Adams who slapped home a second for the visitors who - despite their poor showing - looked to hold an unasailable lead at the interval.

The second period was again dominated by Duchy, who played with improved fluency; taking the lead to 3-0 with man-of-the-match Adams picking up a pass from Stu Richardson before beating a defender and firing home.

Mid-way through the half the score was extended to 4-0 when Lee Selby scored a neat goal after another excellent cross from Vincent; and Duchy took their goal difference for the season to the +100 mark on the hour when captain, Richardson, colelcted his first goal of the campaign with a scrappy finish from 5 yards. 

As the match approached full time Duchy added a sixth, with Richardson completing a brace after collecting a pass from Martyn Head on the 23m line before striding into the circle and sweeping past the 'keeper.

Man of the Match was awarded to Sam Adams.
