Third Place for Women's Over 35s

Duchy's Women's Over 35s finished in a creditable third place in the Cornwall Vets Tournament, narrowly missing out on a plce in the final on goal difference.

The competition started badly for Duchy, slipping to a 2-0 defeat to eventual champions Newquay; before recovering from a goal behind in their second game to record a 1-1 draw with Penzance thanks to an Amy Chippett strike. 

Match 3 saw Duchy take on Caradon and put in their best performance of the day to record a 2-1 victory. Eva Everitt scored both goals, first converting a cross from Jo Holding, before capitalising on a defensive error to smash home a second. Caradon snatched a goal back at the death but ran out of time in search of the equaliser. 

Duchy went into their final game against Falmouth requiring not only victory, but a victory by at least six goals in order to overhaul Newquay and claim a place in the final. Eva Everitt's third goal of the day earned Duchy victory, but Newquay's superior goal difference never looked under threat as Duchy recorded a 1-0 victory and third place overall.

Falmouth and Newquay went on to contest an enthralling final in which Newquay snatched a 2-1 victory to claim their second successive title.
