Club XI Vs Devonport Services [Men's Friendly]

Duchy and Devonport Friendlies Mark Start of Pre-Season

Duchy took three teams to Plymouth for a series of friendly matches against Devonport Service to kick off pre-season for both clubs.

The first fixture of the day saw Men's teams from the two clubs share eight goals as Duchy came from 2-1 and then 3-2 down to record a 5-3 win. Max Chippett oppened the scoring for the Cornishmen early on, before two well-taken goals for the home side turned the match on it's head with Duchy struggling to re-gain a footing. Lee Selby levelled the scores at 2-2 against the run of play before the break; however Devonport quickly took a 3-2 lead after the interval and were only prevented from taking the result out of sight thanks to a man-of the match performance from Kevin Welsh in the Duchy net. 

Mid-way through the half Duchy got back on level terms when Stu Barbery fired home a penalty corner, and the goal preceeded Duchy's best spell of the match with the visitors snatching a fourth goal when Ben Russell lashed home a loose ball, before Selby added a fifth shortly before the final whistle.

Later in the day, a Duchy Women's XI recorded a 4-0 win, before before the Mixed XI made it three wins from three with a 5-2 victory.
