Duchy and Devonport Friendlies Mark Start of Pre-Season

Duchy took three teams to Plymouth for a series of friendly matches against Devonport Service to kick off pre-season for both clubs.

The first fixture of the day saw Duchy's Men record an entertaining 5-3 victory, before the Women's XI (plus two juniors Men's 3s to make up the numbers) ran out comfortable 4-0 victory in Match 2.

Amy Chippett opened the scoring after eight minutes, sweeping home at the far post; and within three minutes of the restart Duchy were 2-0 up thanks to a neat penalty Corner from Captain, Jo Holding. After their slow start, Devonport settled and an entertaining match ensued with both sides creating chances. 

Duchy started the second half as they did the first, dominating possession and scoring a third through Ethan Allen - the young Men's 3s goalkeeper - who showed a keen eye in front of goal to finish accurately from eight yards. The Devonport 'keeper performed well throughout the second half to limit the damage, but was unable to prevent Holding scoring her second with another well struck penalty corner to take the final score to 4-0. 

Later in the day the Mixed XI made it three wins from three for Duchy with a 5-2 victory.
