First Pre-Season Win for Duchy A

Two goals from Max Chippett and a Man-of-the-Match performance from Alex Manning helped Duchy A to a confidence-boosting pre-season win over Bodmin 1s at Pool.

Duchy edged a an evenly contested first half which was littered by sloppy play from both sides, with Martin Crump striking from a penalty corner six minutes before the interval to put Duchy 1-0 up; before a second half in which the home side excelled.

The simple passing which had been absent in the opening period saw the home side retain possession well and limit Bodmin to speculative long-range passing.  It took Duchy just four minutes to double their lead with Chippett collecting a neat Simon Rafferty pass befroe lashing a powerful rever stick effort into the bottom corner; and two minutes after the restart the lead had been extended to 3-0 with Chippett sweeping home a Chris Pearce cross. 

Bodmin's long-ball tactics were not without some reward, and the visitors carved out a handfull of chances which had to be dealt with by the Duchy back four, whilst Kevin Welsh was twice called on to make decent saves to maintain the clean sheet. 

Duchy A will now face Caradon A in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday 28th September.
