Match Report | Spoils Shared in Friday Night Thriller at TauntonDuchy and Taunton Vale A shared eight goals under the lights at TVSC as the Cornish side came from 3-0 down to lead 4-3, before the hosts levelled in the closing stages. The visitors continued a trend of starting matches slowly and within 20 minutes were staring down the barrel of an embarising result as Vale raced to a 3-0 lead. Owen Holton came off the bench to bring Duchy back into contention with a wonderful penalty corner, but with a 3-1 half time lead, Taunton were very much in control. The second half belonged largely to Duchy who got themselves back into the match in remarkable fashion with three goals in eight minutes. Owen Holton quickly wrapped up a fine hat-trick, firing home another penalty corner before thumping in a shot from the edge of the circle for 3-3; before Alex Roberts finished neatly to give Duchy a 4-3 lead. Vale rallied, and within two minutes were back on level terms with a fine goal of their own to take the score to 4-4 with fifteen minutes still to play. After the flurry of scoring, the two defences dominated the final exchenges to stem the flow of goals and a fine advert for hockey finished - deservedly - on level terms. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Taunton Vale A | 4 | f, f, 20f, 53f Duchy | 4 | Owen Holton pc, 43pc, 48f; Alex Roberts 51f |
