Match Report

Careless Duchy A Draw at Caradon

Duchy A twice let slip a lead and ultimately could only record a 2-2 draw away to Caradon.

Despite starting well, and taking a 1-0 lead through Lee Selby early on, Duchy conceded possession far too cheaply on numerous occasions; with Caradon ultimately taking advantage and levelling shortly before the interval.

An improved second half from the visitors saw more chances created, and mid-way through the half Duchy capitalised on a fine run down the right wing from James Vincent who played in Chris Pound to set up Martin Crump for 2-1.  With the lead regained, Duchy looked to press on and secure the victory, however a defensive error with ten minutes remaining saw Caradon stream forward in numbers and pass the ball into the net for 2-2.

With the match drawing to a close, Duchy were unfortunate not to be awarded a penalty stroke when Lee Selby's goalbound shot was kicked off the goalline; however with a mass of bodies inside the circle, the umpires could certainly be forgiven for not spotting the offence, and the match ended at 2-2 - probably a fair reflection of the match as a whole.

Player of the match was awarded to Ethan Allen for making a number of vital saves to keep Duchy in the game.
