Women's 1st XI Vs Plymouth Marjon II [League]

Captain's Feedback: A huge game for our squad. The question was asked of us, could we step up and hack it in South? The answer comes back as a thundering hell yes! We not only cranked it up a gear, we cranked it up two gears! This was possibly our best technical hockey in years. We came out of the blocks hard and looked like we'd showed up wanting it! Our defence were rock solid, Mo making light work of a rocket PC shot to save on the line. Transition work from the back was phenomenal and Marjon didn't have an answer for it as we dragged them round the pitch. Hayley and Charlotte (GK's) were outstanding when called upon too. Midfield did exactly what it says on the tin and used beautiful short, fast, triangle work to cut through the oppo with pace and clinical execution to feed the ball to our exciting new forward partnership, Becky and Kerry, who looked like seasoned pro's in the D. On attack we scrapped for every ball, fought for every rebound and forced the PC's, to come up trumps with 2 gutsy goals. The match was played with amazing positivity and constant chat on the pitch, where there was always a cheer or friendly word from a team mate to help you see a pass or to help you get your head straight if an error was made. THAT, was why it clicked today and enabled us to deploy the benefits of our training sessions to efficiently dispatch a very slick, organised and dangerous opposition.
